Expanding STEM Access
Bringing Quality STEM Education to Every Child
At STEM for Kids Ethiopia, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to discover, explore, and build with technology — regardless of their background or circumstances.
When we launched our STEM program at Bingham Academy as part of the school club, Mr. Kent, Director of Bingham Academy, was inspired by the impact he saw in the students and asked us to extend the same high-quality STEM opportunity to students at Birhan Ber School, a government school where students do not typically have access to hands-on technology education.
STEM for Kids Ethiopia was proud to support this initiative by covering half of the program cost, helping make it possible for students at Birhan Ber School to receive the same quality STEM learning experience.
We ran the program, and the result was a success. The students learned technology, programming, problem-solving, creativity, and hands-on project development. More importantly, they gained the confidence to present what they had built and learned.
The students proudly presented their completed projects in their own native language, demonstrating not only their technical skills, but also their confidence, creativity, and ability to communicate their ideas.
This outreach reflects our core belief that access to quality STEM education should never be limited by a child's circumstances. By bringing these learning opportunities directly to students, we aim to inspire the next generation of Ethiopian innovators, engineers, programmers, and problem-solvers.

A Full-Circle Social Impact Story
Our commitment to making quality STEM education accessible brought us to Etege Menen Girls Boarding School in 2023, where STEM for Kids Ethiopia delivered our program to more than 100 girls completely free of charge.
But the most meaningful part of the story came after the program ended.
Among the students who received hands-on exposure to coding, engineering, robotics, and STEM innovation, a group of particularly motivated young women wanted to continue their journey. We selected 15 of them for paid summer internships as STEM Coach Assistants, giving them the opportunity to move from learning STEM to helping teach it.
Today, up to 10 of those young women continue to work with STEM for Kids Ethiopia. Many are now college students who choose to return during their summer breaks to work alongside our STEM Coaches, teaching and mentoring the next generation of children.
From Learning STEM to Teaching STEM
These young women once sat in our classrooms as students. Today, they stand at the front of them.
They are teaching what they want to continue learning, strengthening their own technical, leadership, and communication skills while helping other children discover the confidence and curiosity that STEM education gave them.
Their decision to return is especially meaningful. Having experienced firsthand the value of early exposure to STEM, they now believe strongly enough in its importance to help create that same opportunity for others.
This is the cycle of impact we are proud to build:
Exposure → Learning → Opportunity → Employment → Mentorship → A New Generation
For STEM for Kids Ethiopia, accessible STEM education is about more than teaching a child to code, engineer a solution, or build a robot. It is about creating pathways — giving young people the skills, confidence, experience, and opportunity to grow from learners into leaders.
The students of yesterday are becoming the STEM Coaches of tomorrow — inspiring and teaching the next generation.
